Silk-screen printing or serigraphy is a
method of printing based on stencilling. It
can be used to print on most surfaces,
including paper, plastic, cloth, and wood. An
impermeable stencil (either paper or
photosensitized gelatin plate) is attached to
a finely meshed silk screen that has been
stretched on a wooden frame, so that the ink
passes through to the area beneath only where
an image is required.
